Confused about handicaps

Posted by: user102224 | Sat 21st Jun 2008 18:16 | Last Reply

Myself and a couple of friends have now played our first 3 rounds together. We played all 3 rounds on the same course. Im confused about how my handicap is higher than the other two guys.

I entered the scores as follows in the score tracker on this site......

Rik (Handicap 36)

144

107

108

Danny (Handicap 28)

153

131

144

Neil (Handicap 28)

143

134

127

Surely Rik should have the lowest handicap?

AS FAR AS I am aware, it all depends on your scores per hole, as for instance if you score a 10 on a par 5 it gets knocked down to 7 i think!

So its not just on your totals but each holes score aswell!

hope this makes it a little clearer!

Rik

Dave is right you must have misregistered as the maximum handicap for adult males is 28.  Juniors and women have a maximum of 36.  When you have registered correctly you will all be on 28.

To reduce your handicap you will need to shoot a score lower than the sss score of the the course plus 28 strokes.  For the course you are currently playing the sss is 70 so you will need to shoot less than 98 to reduce your hanicap below 28.
