280+ drive to the green...

So i went to Parley cross again on Wednesday with my mate, and as usual we decided to warm up on driving range before tackeling the course.

Id got a new Cobra driver from eBay about a week ago as id cracked my previous £6 eBay investment, so after a few attempts at iron shots of the mat, i broke out the driver, which turned out pretty much as expected, i.e not very good. (on my part i might add)

But i thought i might aswell use it on the first tee as its a 281yard hold which is pretty much straight to the green.

After letting the guy infront of us get to the green in 2 and seeing him fiddling around putting in the distance i thought ill never get it that far i might aswell take my shot now.

Couple practice swings later and i went for it, i hit it cleanly and thought it was heading left of the green and about 60 yards short just over a grass bank.

But once i got to the bank where i thought id find my ball in the rough i spotted somthing at the back of the green, naah that cant possibly be my ball, keep looking in the rough. No ball.

I gave up and walked to the green where my mate had got his ball to in 3, and went to inspect the mystery ball. Which turned out to be the 25p Nike one i had picked out of the charity basket before we set off.

The other guy in front of us who by now was coming down from the 2nd even congratulated me on a great shot.

I have no idea how i managed it and doubt ill ever play a better shot, but i thought i might aswell document it, ive saved the ball to.

p.s it was a par 4 hole and it landed about 15 foot from the pin, so i 'could' have made eagle and should have atleast had a birdy but alass my short game is so aweful i 3 putted it to par.
