Info on 'FOLD' Please!!!!

I have noticed that playing Mytton FOLD GC last Monday there is another course with the same addition Pike FOLD GC.
Does anyone know of anymore and where the word FOLD comes from or is derived from?????????????

There is also Old Fold Manor Golf Club, near Potters Bar, Herts.
