Really need wedge advice
Just been on the phone to my pro. about getting 2 new wedges a 56 and a 60. i was thinking about a vokley spin milled due to the reviews. But he recomended i go with mazuno cant remember if there R or T series as i got a 51 of them the other month and recomended i keep all the same type of wedges in there.
He said he could order me either no problem. But dont know what to do? He is a mazuno dealer so dunno if this is why he's saying that or not.
Help !!!!!!!!!
What would you do, its now between them 2

Well, as you know Matt, I now carry a 53* and a 56* cleveland and a 60* mizuno. All three are good quality wedges. If for some reason I needed to change the 60* I would probably go the cleveland route but only because these wedges impressed me more than the mizuno for feel etc.
Give ya pro a call and tell him to order a 60* mizuno and a 60* vokey for you to try and you will buy one and order a 56* . If he is not prepared to do that then go some where else. If he wants to take 100 plus gold nuggets off ya hands he should be willing to do that for you...

I am surprised you have not advocated a cutom fitted wedge, J P, seeing as you place great store in this latest fad in selling golf clubs, and which are no guarantee to be the best suited to anyones game.

No, J P, I just think differently to you in respect of this game. You have reach a fairly respectable standard and I hope you get even better, but it will not be because you have custom fitted clubs.

I carry Taylormade RAC Black wedges (52 and 58) which i think are hard to beat for feel but arent the most forgiving. just bought a Cleveland wedge from Direct Golf (for a society prize) which looks massive in comparison to my Taylormades. Good deals on via Direct-golf.co.uk at the moment for them.

Ah Mat this is going to get more confusing as I am about to through in another option, just come back from trying out my newly aquired (but second hand) Callaway 52 degree forged wedge, and I have to say, what a club, feels so much better than any other wedge I have ever used, quality, and will be in the team for tomorrow without a doubt....

J P, you have only seen the before and after during a mechanical session with a machine, which is designed to fool us all.
Take that punter down to the range and reproduce what the machine is telling you, then perhaps, you will have a convert.

J P, I would expect you to hit it 250 yds based on your handicap alone. The mere fact that you are now up to Ben Hogans standard should tell you that there has not been much improvement in distance with all the claims from the manufacturers over the last 20/30 years.
I am on your side, I can appreciate talent, just cannot appreciate the claims made by the marketing monsters of today.
Just back from the Doctors with a list of complaints, i.e. Knee, Hip, Back Hand, Eyes, Heart, Teeth, Mole on back and results from diabetes tests.
He said that all can be cured if I go for a custom fitting, so maybe you are right.
