Fair Course's
Was thinking about this last night after i played a round with robbie at knotty hill.
My normal course Crook is really hilly, theres hardly a flat lie anywhere, fairways that slope so a good shot could still role into the rough, lots of blind shots into the green. Super fast and hard to read greens and that kind of stuff.
Where as knotty hill was flat good shots stayed on the fairway, you could see the greens on most shots and the greens were a nice speed and no silly contours.
I really enjoyed playing it, dont know if it was just because i was hitting the ball well and the course was not to long for me. But i felt like i was playing proper golf. and not relying in luck and bouces like i do at crook.
Anyone else know what i mean

Yes Matt,
Crook is a tough test for anybody. Course management is a must there. Like you say good shots can be penalised if your not careful and the greens well, they are so fast that 4 putts come easy..
Knotty is a fair two course club. Treat the course with respect and you can score well. Whack the ball with no game plan and it will punish you.
Enjoyed our knock yesterday mate, good to be out in the sun and snow and warm and cold...
Any time you want to come again your welcome...

I very much agree with Matt's comments. I have played regularly on a very hilly course in days past. It meant a lot of sloping lies and ball manouvering to hold sloping greens. I now play a much flatter course with flatter greens. Not only is it easier on my aging body, but I score better in almost all aspects of the game. Some might disagree with me, but I get far more enjoyment out of this more gentle (although longer) form of golf.
