Ball Marking

Posted by: user30119 | Sun 23rd Mar 2008 22:48 | Last Reply

Do any of you use markings on your ball to help with putting or just to help I.D your ball?

Ive tried the drawing a line round the ball but got fed up with having to rub black ink of all my clubs during rounds

I hate ball markings, it may be just me but when I replace my ball on the green I always do it so there are no visible marks at all if possible, including the brand name.  I think it means I focus on all of the ball instead of some dots or lines.

I mark my balls for identification purposes with 2 black dots around a millimeter in diameter, one either side of the number.  The marking has to be small and symetrical.  For some bizzare reason I feel that if an unsymetrical marking were applied then the ball won't fly straight.  Quite why I think the ball will fly straight anyway I don't know.  I've never used aiming lines - perhaps thats where I'm going wrong.

I marked my balls once. I stood on a rake in the bunker.

Do you use that David? I'm slighty unsure that this device could help find the sweet spot or help aid the roll of the ball

I use Titleist NXT balls and they have an alignment system already on them. It is great for lining up putts or when teeing up. It looks like this <-NXT->. I also like to put 3 small black dots on for my own recognition.
