golfshake events

Hi guys,

Now that you've had a few days to digest the Donnington event, I would welcome some feedback! What worked well? What would you like to see at the next events? Was the format on the day alright? Would you like the events on different days, in different regions? Anyone who wasnt at Donnington feel free to chip in some ideas too.

Cheers

Luke

Luke,

I know that it's difficult, but weekend events would be great.  I only have a certain amount of holidays from work to play in the events and this means I have to pick and choose.  I would've loved to have played on Monday but just couldn't get the time off.  I know there must be others who are in the same position.

Any chance of any in the Midlands area?

As above weekends suit me better, i dont mind traveling, but local events would be good.

Also i have mentioned this before but how about organising a matchplay comp over several rounds. With the winners obvioulsy going through to the next round. Ie county, then region, then nationals.

I like the idea Col.  With the final all expenses payed at Valderamma.....

How about having a regional 9 hole summer league (playing just nine holes means that evening games are feasible for those who work)?  You choose which region you want to play in and there is a maximum of say 10 people per league.  Everyone plays each other once at a mutually agreed course on a mutually agreed date.  3/4 handicaps, stableford should mean that most matches are quite close.  Top in each league meet for a one-off play-off late summer.

I like the sound of a tournment style match, match play style.  Could do it over a few days, a long weekend?

Again, as is the general feeling, weekends would suit me better..

I would play in yours Paul but unfortunately I go on holiday the following day and have been "advised" that I cannot play.

Ssshhhhh Paul, she might hear you.

In truth, it would make things a bit of a rush.  We have to drop off the animals for boarding and the like.  I'm working on her though and as long as I head home pretty much straight away I might be able to get away with it.
