Taylor Made Burner XD review. Steel Shafted Version

Posted by: user79613 | Mon 3rd Mar 2008 12:40 | Last Reply

After a long 2 week wait and the course being closed last weekend (see my post titled Disappointment! in AOB) I finally got to hit my new Burner XD’s at the weekend. I have to say they felt great, very different to my Mizuno Comp EZ’s.

It took me about until the 14th hole before I was nailing my 3 wood off the tee (I don’t use a driver), and bearing in mind I had never hit it at all – not even at the range seems acceptable. But once I had sussed it the final drives were all spot on, great sound off the club too. The 5 wood I hit a couple of times from the semi rough, both times I caught it heavy, but the ball flight was still straight and a reasonable distance, very impressive.

The irons also felt really good, you can really feel the power on contact. The ball flight might be a bit high for the mid – lower handicappers. I do tend to hit the ball with a high flight anyway so it suited me, yes – I know, not getting my weight on to my left side is the issue, plan to sort that out this year.

So if you are thinking of new clubs I highly recommend these, very easy to hit, sound great, look great all you have to do now is convince the wife that they are a real long term investment……….

If anybody wants to know anything else about them just give me a shout.

Stevie.
