Pluged grass lie

Posted by: user16742 | Tue 5th Feb 2008 19:39 | Last Reply

Been googling for this and cant find any tips anywhere there all about how to get out of a bunker plugged lie.Just looking as on sunday my drive ended up sunk into the first cut about 1/2 to 3/4 down, if it had been on the fairway we could have lifted it up and tee's it up. But i had to play it as it lied.Having never had to do this before i just played it with a 6 iron trying to hit 1/2 inch before the ball swinging as hard as i could to try to get it out, it worked it came out as a daisy cutter and end up 100 yards further up and it hurt my wrists. So is there a better way of getting out of this?

Matt,

We have a local rule where if in winter your ball plugs in the rough, you can roll it out of the plug as long as you don't lift it.

Crook use to have the "pick up and moved ball to first cut" rule for winter Matt until this winter.

Come the start of the season the fairway would be top notch but the first cut would be full of divots...

But at least that give Aus plenty of company.....

Fairways can be a lonely place..
