golf and are lass (left handed)

Posted by: user16742 | Tue 15th Jan 2008 12:10 | Last Reply

Hi,

Just looking for some advice really, for our honeymoon were of to disneyworld, and are lass has seen that theres some golf courses there a nice "family 9 hole"

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdwi/en_GB/moreMagic/golfDetail?id=OakTrailGolfPage_en_GB one which she said that she would have a go with me. Now shes left handed as well, was thinking of getting her a few lessons before we go just so she can hit the ball and get round ok. How dificult do you think it would be to hire left handed womans clubs over there (they say the hire clubs) but left handed womans?
As shes never played golf before would it matter which way round she learns?

TIA

Matthew

PS also get chance to paly the magnolia course see my other post

Matt,

The 9 holer is next to Palm and Magnolia.  They rent out Taylor Mades and have men and women in left and right.  However, they do only have standard fit so if she's short or tall it may be an issue (as the 6'4" guy I played Magnolia with found out!).  Also they are for mid to low handicappers so she may struggle a little.

I suggest the same as Robbie with a twist.  Take her up the range and if she likes it get her a beginners set from the US.  You can pick up a decent one for about $150 and they'll custom fit for free (normally within 24 to 48 hours).  I recommend Edwin Watts.  They're on International Drive, just south of West Sand Lake Road, or they have a massive superstore 5 minutes from there on Turkey Lake Road (that's a little harder to find).  They have a great try out area with flightscope so you can see which you prefer.  Got my putter and irons from the superstore and they were really friendly and helpful.

The clubs are for mid to low handicappers.

If you know where the Edwin Watts on International is, to get to the superstore from there head North to Sand Lake and take a left at the lights.  Go under the 74 and take the right after the freeway entrance just after the gas station (signposeted for Unversal Studios).  That's Turkey Lake.  It's about one mile up on the right, set quite far back from the road with a huge heavily shrubbed car park in front of it.  I brought my new clubs back in my bag and they never knew...........

No-one from customs on here is there?

Ahhhh, Dueling Dragons.  Best enjoyed from the front of the car.  Makes it really scary when the other coaster and you are heading straight at each other both doing around 50 miles an hour.  Did you know your feet only miss each other by about 30 inches?  Quality.  Universal has lots of good rides in each park where Disney only has one per park.  Universal gets my vote every time.

Disappointted with Busch Gardens too.  Don't think it lived up to the hype.

I haven't been but I will try.  Unfortunately I've not had pleasure trip to California as I tend to be there on business.  Dec 06 I had a weekend layover so I used airmiles to fly the little lady out.  I was staying in Orange County so we spent Saturday at the original Disney (she's a BIG Disney fan), Sunday morning chilling, afternoon at the mall and went to see the Mighty Ducks on the evening.  She flew home Monday and I flew to New York.

You obviously don't travel on business Matt.  Those who do would gladly not do it.

Between Nov 05 and Mar 07 I spent at least one week per month in the US.  All you see is the inside of offices, factories, hotels and airports.  The trip I did late 06 was two weeks.  I flew out on a Sunday, took at least one flight every week day, visited eight states plus Canada in four time zones, flying back on a Friday night to arrive back Saturday morning.  The only time I stayed in the same hotel two nights was the middle weekend.  It took me two weeks to recover.

Most times I work all day, go to the airport, fly for 2 hours, drive for an hour then get to my hotel at around 11:00pm.  Straight to bed then do it all again the next day.  Only positive I've had from it is it only cost me £48 to fly Jo to LA for the weekend as I had so many airmiles.
