Wentworth Pricing!

I was listening to Talksport last night whilst driving upto Birmingham in my lorry.

A Chinese company bought Wentworth GC in 2014.

They are now saying that the joining fee for new members will be £125,000.

It was also said that if you are already a member you will have to pay £100,000

They have also doubled the green fees, from £8,000 to £16,000 a year.

Sent my membership request form this morning, but I expect the cheque to bounce!

What do people think of this move by the golf club?

30yrs ago I gave a course of lessons to a mother who had come to Leeds with her two children to see them start at Leeds University. They were from the Philippines and told me that the father paid £125,000 p.a. to be a member of a Golf Club and still had to pay a green fee every time he played. So this is nothing new.

Only current members should be concerned or outraged. Its their method for creating exclusivity and generating some cash for changes.

.... Wouldn't be surprised to see Euro tour disappear off the site though to another location.

just totally stupid money to play golf. It may be one of the best in the UK but those prices are crazy. I looked to play a round there mid week and they want £250 and you have to have one of their own caddies. Cheaper to pay and play than to join!!!!
