end of 2007 & Golfing resolutions?
Happy New Year Everyone !!
Wow what an absolutely great finish I had to the year yesterday I managed to turn up 1 hour late at the course, overslept durr (luckily my friends were kind enuff to wait for me). Anyway I havent got a clue how the heck this happened but I managed to shoot a 76. Albeit it it was a total fluke and we was playing off the winter tees (previously I shot a 79 at the other local course I play) so now thats twice I've broke 80 and at 2 differentcourse HOOOOOORAAAAAAAAY !! I know your all gonna say its not real as its off the winter tess (which are actually only about 5 yards off the yellow tees anyway) but still I have proudly put both my cards up on display.......hell I know its not gonna happen often but boy it feels great. Now back to the reality of shooting 80's and 90's.
Hope you all had a great end to the year as well.......
Might as well get the ball rolling my golfing resolution for the new year is to:
1. play more
2.practice more on my short game.
Your turn guys......

Of course it's real Alps P, a great score, no matter what tees you were off. I can assure you that it is impossible to fluke 76.
If there was any gain in the tees being a little forward, it is lost in the ball not running so far, everything evens itself up.
I predict many more times under the magical 80 for you - well done.

Just thought I'd add a "Good Luck" to all who are going next month. I got to play Silves for the first time in November, as it wasn't open when we were there in April '06. We played 2 rounds at each of the courses owned by Pestana, as you will in the competition. For anyone who hasn't played the 3 courses - they really are very good.
We stayed at the Delfim as the Dom Jaoa was closed, and walked into Alvor every night. The restaurants in Alvor are many and varied. A few years ago now, we made a good friend there, who now has his own bar in Alvor on Rua Frederico Mendez - an Irish singer called Jason Coates. Can't remember the new name for the Bar unfortunately, but there are free maps around the town, so you should be able to find the road easily enough, and it's the first bar on the left from the centre of town (heading down the hill).
Good luck with the competition.

Since my last post, I've arranged another week at the Delfim - 23rd to 30th January, playing each of Pestana's courses twice. Last time I went in January to Portugal (2007), I didn't manage to break 90 at any course - hoping for better this time!

Sorry David - missed your post earlier. I don't know if you've been before, but this will be my 5th stay in Alvor (only the 2nd at Delfim), and I really like the Pestana courses. The only problem I've ever had with them is getting any action on the shots into the greens. Unless it's been raining, the greens always seem a bit on the firm side! Putting on them is a dream however - fast and true! I'm really looking forward to it, as I haven't had a chance to play since 7th Jan (too much paperwork), and our course has been closed for the last 3 days because of all the rain!
If you get a chance to check out the bar I mentioned in my first post above, you should do so - it's not very big, but usually a great atmosphere, and Jason really is one of the best singers you're likely to hear, so it does get quite full!
