The Fringe, part of the green or not?

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sun 8th Feb 2015 17:27 | Last Reply

It would be interesting for me to see how many of my fellow golfers consider the fringe to be a part of the green.

During the winter months is amazes me how much damage is done by trolleys to the fringes.

When it's been frosty you can even see the track marks, and with so many of them it appears they try to get the wheel as near to the green as they possibly can.

I do consider the fringe to be a part of the putting green so will not push my trolley on it, or even put my carry bad down on it.

My golf club has poor fringes to our greens, and I'm certain that part of this comes down to people running trolleys over them during the winter months.

It takes the main course at my golf club until late July before the greens/fringes start to look in a good condition.

What do you think?

The fringe is not part of the green .... doesn't mean I agree with running a trolley over it though !
