playing on your own
Hi
Just wondering if anybody else goes for a round on their own. I don't have a regular partner and find this is the only way i can get a game sometimes.

Hi Chris 90% of the time i play on my own, not by choice but i do find it helps you concentrate on just your game and i do play better on my own. Esp through winter i play alone just to keep my game going, most of my mates who do play dont tend to through winter. nick

I don't often play on my own but thoroughly enjoy it when I do. Playing alone allows me to focus 100% on my game and I often play well as a result. I can also hit 2 or 3 balls for a bit of extra practice if there is nobody behind.
For anyone do wouldn't normally play on their own, I would say give it a try, especially if you wouldn't otherwise be able to get a game in. It may not be for everyone but you might just enjoy it.

hi, I play on my quite a bit mainly because I am unsociable and also as I like to tee off at first light (I am a bad sleeper so being awake at 4am in the summer is a bonus). I find being by myself lets me hit 2 or 3 balls in each hole and I can practice pitching, chipping and putting. I have a game booked for this Thursday at Surrey National and my friend has dropped out so I will probably go on my own and will hopefully get 36 holes in

Thanks guys for the replies. I was just curious whether it was allowed or maybe frowned upon at many golf clubs. i'm not particularly keen on joining others groups at the moment until I become a little more consistent. I can play decent one day and then not even to manage to hit it off the ground the next. It's so frustrating

Paul,
I have a tee time booked on Thursday if you are free - the guy I was due to go with has had to drop out.
I will drop you a message.
James

I have played a lot on my own in the past, usually just because I am a lot keener than some of my other friends. I will usually have 1 ball that I am scoring and then just drop one out of the bag every time I fancy practicing a particular shot. I've heard people say that they can get lonely out on the course on their own but the time flies by for me!

all the time, doesn't bother me one bit, I like to take 3 balls if its quiet and play 1 as I would in a comp (maybe hybrid), one ultra safe (5 iron) and one gung ho (Driver!) really highlights the most efficient way to play a hole. theres a short par 4 at my course, everyone hits driver, I hit hybrid because it leaves me a perfect 148 8 iron in to the green, my favourite shot!
