Plus twenty competitions
Hi all, I was wondering if any golf clubs run competitions for high handicap players. If they did this it would allow players like me to meet more partners and get more pleasure from golf.
Joining a club as a high handicapper is fine if you have lots of partners to play with, if you don't then it can be tough.

Many years ago one of the members of this forum used to run high handicappers comps, they were very popular I seem to remember, no doubt he'll chip in as to what the handicap levels were, 18+ I think. Much hilarity at places like West Midlands where the 18th is an island green par 3.
Maybe you could think of organising one through here?

Ian, most Clubs run their competitions in 'Divisions' so although you are playing against everyone else you are pitted within your Division too.

Also many Clubs run what Filey GC called a 'Clutch', you just turned up, put your £ in and played with three other guys that you were drawn with. This led to you knowing more guys that you could then make up with in the weekend comps.

was the one thing I liked when paying comps at Bulbury Woods GC. You entered a comp & then were drawn your partners stopping any sort of cheating as you didn't play with your mates.

Thanks for the interesting replies. Perhaps clubs should make it known that there is provision for those who are playing with high handicaps. I am not sure that I would pay money to join a club where the less talented were described as 'rabbits', not unless all other categories of players were given the name of a small burrowing animal usually regarded as a pest!

I agree Ian. There should be 3 divisions known as "hackers" "competent" and "advanced"...Rabbits don't mess up the course as much as hackers.
