The Olympics golf Amateur or Professionals
Do you think it should be for Amateurs professional Golfers? It will be the first time golf has been played at the Olympics since 1904 and it is to feature two events, the mens and the womans individual events. Can it put a halt on golf's decline? Over the last few years golf has lost so many players, it is desperate for inspiration. The London Olympics made a massive difference to cycling in 2012 can it do the same for golf? Qualification Will be based on world ranking as of 11 July 2016, with a total of 60 players qualifying in each of the men's and women's events. The top 15 players of each men and woman.

It is a good question. To promote golf it has to include the top players as this will bring the most publicity but in the true spirit of the Olympics then surely amateurs need a place too. Perhaps they should allow one professional and one amateur to enter from each country? There would have to a preliminary qualification competition to ensure a manageable number of players enter the Olympics themselves.

Amateurs and the Olympics are very much in the minority these days .... and the amateurs are usually the events that aren't that popular. Cycling only caught the attention because we were collecting medals, and those same athletes were not amateurs!
Is the golf even going to happen ... Seem to remember readin something about the course being built incorrectly and some holes being discussed as getting ripped up.
