Marking card wrong

Posted by: user117101 | Mon 20th Oct 2014 08:55 | Last Reply

Hi fellas, a mate has just come into the office and said that he had been disqualified from a comp with the wong score which he signed for, the pro said it wouldn't have been so bad if he had signed a card which was less points (stableford) I said it dosn't matter whether over or under if you sign for a wrong score it is still disqualification what are your thoughts. Regards

A DQ is only given if you sign for a score that is less than what you took (in stabledord you are still signing for the number of strokes for each hole, the calculation of points is not the players responsibility).

The pro was right, if you sign for a score higher than what you took then bad luck, but you don't get a DQ.

Hi Brian, thank's for that, this game!, there is always something that comes up you don't know the answer to, so when Padraig was DQ'd for signing his card wrong he must of added it up less. Regards Graham

That's club comps for you. I think it's always good to put your own score in the markers column so that you know what you've ended up with. Society's will have their own policy on this. In CGL society we just amend the score whether it's more or less points.

Yes, in the society I play we always add up, but what happened to my mate the total points was correct but what his marker had was got two holes with wrong strokes but it added up to the correct points.

As a player, you are only responsible for the correct Gross Score for each individual hole, get them right and your OK. The only other responsibility is to make sure you have your correct Hcp on the card. Then sign it, you get away with signing it in the wrong place too.

There is a lot to be said for having a drink in the clubhouse after your round.

It gives you plenty of time to double check everything before handing in that all important scorecard.

Imagine being DQ'd if you had a winning score!

Yep, your so right Russ, can't understand some people just sign the card and shoot off, perhaps they don't like buying a drink (there are a few of those around) go back to their car and fiddle about til your at the bar then come in, you buy a drink then there off, soon find out who they are.

Hi Gary, bet you didn't do that again, that's why when we finish we sit down check the scores and sign, easier said after the event but if you have a system easier to stick to it, bad enough banging a ball around a course and get a good score and then muck up at the end, enough to turn you to drink.
