Best format?

Posted by: user611117 | Thu 2nd Oct 2014 20:10 | Last Reply

we have a twice weekly 'Roll-Up' when anything from 7 to 16 turn up to play. Sometimes we play a medal/stableford and when we' have 8,12 or 16 we play various variations in four balls. The problem arises when we have 10, 11, 13 or 14 players. Most of our squad prefer to play in a 3 or 4 ball so how do we arrange the handicaps when we have for example 10 players made up as 2x3 balls and 1 4 ball. We.have tried making the 4 ball to play off 3/4 handicap and 3 balls off full handicap, Unfortunately, we never seem to strike a happy medium. Does anyone have a definitive answer to this ongoing problem?

I'd rather just play singles than have some strange convoluted method to attempt to even out teams, the never seem to be fair.

Can't you play Average Stableford Score?

Add the total points for each group and then divide by the number of players?
