Favourite shot in golf

Posted by: user28838 | Tue 23rd Sep 2014 22:42 | Last Reply

What's your favourite shot in golf? A long drive down the middle, chipping it close or holing a long putt?

The real essence of golf in my mind is hitting a solid iron shot close to the flag - that's my favourite shot in golf. (PS - as long as I hole the putt of course!).

A crisp wedge shot with plenty of fizz on it. I never get tired of seeing the ball check up on the 2nd bounce, then trickle to a halt close enough to save par, or slot the birdie.

For me it's probably a long drive that splits the fairway. Not because I like shwoing off but because driving is easily the weakest part of my game, so when I hit a great one it feels that much better. But generally speaking I love hitting a great shot with any club. Chipping in from of the green always make me want to celebrate as though I'm in front of a massive crowd!

I have chipped in a couple of times recently and it certainly is nice (indeed one them resulted in an impromptu society handicap cut for "over celebrating"), but the best shot for me is the perfectly struck 4 or 5 iron that soars into the distance with that lovely feeling off the club face.

I'm with the well struck iron approach shot brigade. I always find the approach shot the most difficult as it feels like you are under so much more pressure. I would like the iron shot to get some check and zip back towards the hole but realistically, if my iron approach shot lands and stays on the green then I am one happy bunny.

Up and down always does it for me.

for me its got to be a punched 3 wood into wind that flies past my mates drives...such a tough shot to hit but my word i love trying it & the 50% of the time it pays off...it looks bloomin' spectacular!

I can't pick a particular shot. But love the feeling when you look at shot and can visualise the perfect path, flight or whatever (high wedge over trees, punch through branches, long chip, tee shot round a corner etc) and then you actually pull it off perfectly. That actualisation of your imagination is so satisfying.

I can't believe that anyone would say anything other than a perfect drive with a gentle draw splitting the fairway. Agreed, there are more important or point scoring shots but nothing more enjoyable in my opinion.

I hit drives likebtat regularly. I don't hit as many crisp wedges particularly under pressure. Technically, the best shot is a well struck putt that drops in the cup with just enough speed. But its boring to watch. My best shot used to a be well struck 2 iron that gets home, but hybrids make those shots so much easier.
