Cutting Handicaps

Posted by: user599558 | Tue 16th Sep 2014 13:57 | Last Reply

Hi all,

I was just wondering how the society pages work in terms of adjusting handicaps? We had an outing a the guy that won scored 43 points playing off 24, the site has cut him by 0.7 for this. Does it cut 0.1 for every point over 36 or does it become more aggressive in terms of cutting or increasing handicaps as more rounds are entered?

Thanks Eddie

Hi Eddie, we just apply the handicap cuts as per the info in our help section here - http://www.golfshake.com/help/golf-handicap/

Some societies do implement their own systems but to make the chances within the society system they have to apply manual adjustments, more info here

Looking at the way the cutting of handicaps is worked out, I think this players has been done incorrectly. I'm assuming it's because it's his first card entered though? He shot 16 over playing off a handicap of 24, looking at the basis for adjusting handicaps this should be 8*0.3 which would cut him 2.4 to 21.6 (22), however the player has only been cut 0.8. Is this due to it being the first card entered or is there an error here?

The final adjustments is made off the score card SSS. Was there a big difference in the par and SSS ?

Drop us an email via help at golfshake dot com and we can check the data for you. It's very unlikely a system error but possible an error with score card data.
