Believe it or not that's not far off average for a good amateur driver of the ball.

Word of advice though, forget how many yards, aim for how many fairways. A Straighter hitter will always score better than a long hitter

Think we would all like to hit long 300 yards, but if your hitting 220-250 consistently on the fairways , then just make IMO the second shot count.

Distance is relative. 300yds in the trees or OOB is no good to anyone. I shortened my driver to get 280ish in the fairway. I can get home on most holes from there. I did get to the front of a 342yd downhill hole today, but only made a 4. Tough chip left a 20 ft putt. I'd rather hit in from 150yds than have to pitch onto a spot the size of a sixpence to get close. 220 - 250 is good yardage in the fairway. I have a friend playing off 6 with a 250 drive, he's always in the fairway and scores really well because of that. I'm often envious of his metronomic rhythm and supreme mid iron shots. His handicap doesn't reflect his scoring potential. I'd trade his game for mine any day.
