Never played Penina, but have done an abroad golf trip. Rule number 1...enjoy it, if you play badly, so be it. No point letting that ruin your time there by being annoyed. You've paid to go there and have fun, after-all! Many people forget golf is meant to be enjoyable and fun! Rule number 2, take plenty of water! It'll be warmer than you're probably used to so drink plenty of water on course. No fun to be had walking round a course with a hangover and no water! Enjoy!

Not played Penina either, but would go along with Andrews comments on enjoying yourself and drinking water - far too easy to get dehydrated even if it's only a few degrees warmer than here.

Other than that, weigh your golf travel bag when it's loaded, get two pairs of shoes if possible in it and lots of spare balls (you won't have them all for the trip back so it should be lighter!) and get it up to within a kg of your limit. Wrap towels and waterproofs around clubs so that they don't flop around. Secure zips with electrical tie wraps not padlocks - easily removed but secure enough to prevent idle tampering and no keys to lose.

The championship course is fairly flat so is easy walking. Wide fairways with some tricky approaches and flattish greens that roll beautifully. Watch the short putts and take time over them as they are very missable (I found to my cost). Some water hazards but you have choices. Some housing developments round the course but they are not intrusive. Enjoy!!
