Cards on the table! Who do you think will win the The Open Championship?

I backed Woods in my writers predictions and maybe he will do it, looking unlikely, but stranger things have happened!

Could be a tough test, that doesn't need an absolute bomber to win, but I'm going for Justin Rose .... he's done well at the tougher conditions course so I think he could do well with his current form too.

The winner will be the player with the strongest mental game. All entrants have the physical skills needed to win, but mental skills and strength are extremely rare. It's hit and miss / patchy with most of today's players although a few have enjoyed very good short runs of success. The giants of mental game mastery stand out by a mile - Nicklaus and Player immediately spring to mind. But today's players earn so much that they can well afford to, at times, adopot Garciaism. A strong mental game is often founded on hunger. Nowadays no player in with a shot is hungry, bar maybe the amateur qualifiers.

So to answer the question - flip a coin. I don't see burning hunger anywhere.

I can't remember who I picked in my writers predictions at the start of the year but I'm going to shout Stenson.

For mental strength its probably Martin Kaymer as Germans dont generally tend to have emotions.

Like Brian Justin Rose he really is on form

If Rory can keep it consistent then he's my pick. Could see the likes of Marc Warren do well too. My winner will come from ROSE, McILROY, G MAC, FOWLER or HARRINGTON.

Yesterday it looked like the american contingent were scared of the course.

Looks like Dave picked the winner by the looks of things. Rory at the moment got it in the bag the way he's going. Be interesting to see how close Justin Rose gets tomorrow.
