New driver for 2014?

Posted by: user354092 | Thu 2nd Jan 2014 14:35 | Last Reply

New driver feature just added to the site:

http://www.golfshake.com/news/view/6615/Best_new_2014_drivers.html

Anyone excited about getting a new driver this year? If so, which one?

Not sure how you decide the best drivers of 2014 when many of them haven't been released for testing, some of them have been out for a few months already, and many of the major players are still missing clubs .... i25, adams XTD, TM Jetspeed to name just a few.

Until they are all out, and tested then it really a short list of new drivers.

Yes I am excited about finally playing a driver in my bag again. Have not put my 8 year old TM Burner Tour in my bag for ages as I get the distance with the 3W. But finally decided to give one of these fandango adjusty things a whizz and will be buying something next week.

I struggle to justify new club prices (having just bought a set of new Mizuno JPX pros) though so on the lookout for a great last years model. Thinking Callaway X Hot that I tried at AG was showing good results on the launch monitor, but largely sold out in Stiff shafts everywhere. Love to hear if there are any great 2014 deals going on. Ping G25 also goes well, but they seem to be full price everywhere.

I won't be buying a new driver in 2014. You see I bought my current driver in 2006 and am now hitting it consistently 230 yards straight. However, the current drivers have been improving (according to the publicity blurb) by 15 yards or so each year so a new one would be 120 yards longer! That means I wouldn't be able to use it on half the holes I play off the yellows because I'd be over the green...

Hi Brian,

Yep understand the list is short at the moment. I will be adding drivers into the article as they are released and Golfshake will be increasing the amount of testing and equipment features in 2014.

Cheers Owen, just seemed strange to see some drivers that had been released ages ago (SLDR) and some that are months away from release (Big Bertha), and both being described as 'best' drivers of 2014

Nice post Tim. Gave me a chuckle. I wonder what the manufacturers would say about your revelations?

New Ping I25 looks rather lovely though even with the Go faster racing stripes. Mark Crossfield has the review done already.
