Stiff little fingers

Posted by: user565589 | Sat 28th Dec 2013 19:51 | Last Reply

Me again with more beginner queries! I'm finding that the middle and ring fingers on my right hand get stiff and a little achey after a round. Is this a normal symptom for beginners? I don't feel like I'm gripping the club too tightly but I suppose I could be sub consciously tensing up at times. Being a beginner I do hit a fair few topped balls and ground the club too. Add this to the fact I play eith an inherited set of ben sayers steel shaft irons and the vibrations can be quite bad.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it a grip issue or just normal for most golfers?

You may have answered your own question Brian. As a beginner, you are asking your hands and fingers to grip and move in ways they probably haven't before. Also it is quite likely that you are gripping too tightly, at least get it checked. I believe that someone should be able to pull the club out of your hands with little effort, if your regular grip is correct. Of course one has to grip tighter in certain situations e.g. deep rough. Hopefully you are doing things correctly and the discomfort will ease as you play more. Good luck.
