Northern Matchplay

For anyone who has played in the Northern Matchplay before or intends to next year, you might be interested to know that they have made the bold move to introduce a max 12 hcp for the competition.
For some who have been on the wrong end of dubious handicaps it'll be a welcome move, but will also put off half of the competitive golfers out there.
Thoughts anyone?

Not specifically on this but options for competitive golf seems to be thinning (outside of your own club comps).
