I reckon the Monday pairs should play each other in the bowling too for that extra bit of spice
And
DREAM ON THE SOUTH. The trophy is staying in the North

The event is really taking shape now. The evenings entertainment all sounds great and the 3 formats will definately add to things. Hopefully I will not bowl well as I am planning an early night after a couple of lemonades !! Very excited would be an understatement. Darren you are back with a bang after worries about the event not even happening. Many thanks in advance. Tim

Ps the foursomes handicaps are not that difficult Floody. I presume that as it's only 9 holes it will be 1/4 of the combined difference.

Hi Kev It's obviously up to Darren and I have rarely played handicap foursomes, but I was under the impression that each side received half the combined handicaps, the difference between the 2 teams would then be halved again as we are only playing 9 holes. I could well be wrong and anyone please feel free to correct me. Tim

Lets just play scratch foursomes! As it's only 9 holes it could be over by the 4th!!

Foursomes is 1/2 combined handicap over 18 holes, where usually the odd indexes and the even indexes are on each nine.
As we are only playing 9 holes you would get 1/2 that again.
ie hcap 10 & hcap 6 = 8 shots (9 hole 4 shots) so they would get a shot on the 4 lowest indexes on that 9 holes played eg indexes 2/4/6/8.
By this there is only a maximum of 9 shots to be given as there are only 9 holes and no one pair should get more than 1 shot per hole (original combined handicaps would be 36)
I hope this makes sense !!

That's not how I said it Martin but that is what I meant. I will have to change all my pairings if not
Reply : Tue 17th Sep 2013 14:21
What you do with your pairings Tim is irrellevent. A Southern losing side will be a losing side irrespective of who plays with who !!!

Good job there isn't a favourite button or Matty boom boom would have clicked it!!

its more of a question for Darren really. what are the handicap allowances for each format ?
Reply : Wed 18th Sep 2013 11:18
Tim,
They should be as follows :-
9 Hole F/Somes - 1/2 combined (18 holes). As we are playing 9 holes then 1/4 combined
18 Hole Singles - Full Difference
18 Hole Betterball Matchplay - 3/4 of the Difference off the lowest hcap who plays off scratch.
e.g M Millichip 5 (Scratch) - T Hawkins 14 (Difference is 9 (14-5) which @ 3/4 = 7 shots)
I hope this explains
Martin
