Hernia advice
Hello all, this is a bit of a shot in the dark.
I have developed what appears to be a Inguinal hernia. Early stages and going for a scan soon. According to my Doc the truss things and tight shorts they advertise are of no use to me at this time…if at all! ..I have seen athletes with what looks like blue tape running up the back of ham strings or the like. Not looking for something that can go round the thigh or muscle. Does this help hold the muscle/skin in place? Anyone know anything about this? ..Any advice at all would be welcome. The Doc says I can still golf and I am off soon to play in Italy for a week. So hear from all you budding fitness enthusiasts. Enjoy your golf.

I believe the blue tape acts as a flexible splint, effectively adding strength to to the ligament/tendon. This is why the run in the direction of the affected item. I wouldn't think this would help you with a hernia though.
Try www.physioroom.com. They specialise in sports injury and rehabilitation and may have something in there that could help you

I think the strips are kinesiology tape. I don't know much about but did heard during one of the athletics events that it requires an expert to apply to ensure you apply over the correct muscle.
Here's a quote from another site and link
When the tape is applied correctly, it achieves the last of these effects by lifting the skin to create a small space between the muscle and dermis layers. That space takes the pressure off swelling or injured muscles, allows smooth muscle movement and makes space for drainage and blood flow.
