Cost of Yardage Charts
Has anybody else noticed how poor the yardage charts are becoming?
It amazes me how many golf clubs are happy to charge visitors £3.50 for a very basic yardage chart.
I know that golf clubs have to make money, but sometimes they go too far.
When I look at some yardage charts they appear to have plenty of adverts in them, so it does appear that the golf club could give away yardage charts!

Hope your well buddy.
I dont mind picking up a yardage chart if I'm playing a new course. Nice to keep as well.
You'll probably find the amount of players that have a GPS these days contributes to the increasing cost in the yardage guides. Not that it makes it right but the clubs are probably selling half as much as they would have done say 4/5 years ago so feel the need to increase costs.

I agree with Russell, it's just greed, if you go to some of the more expensive courses then they seem to think that the chart should also be expensive, I've seen them for a fiver

I suppose its about cost justification.
I paid £10 for 2 at Celtic Manor. Didn't think twice about it.

I have a SkyCaddie so don't really need a yardage chart as such.
When I visit a new course I do like to get a yardage chart as I like to see the hole as I play it, and it's a keepsake for afterwards.
When I played Wheatley GC a month or so ago they had a yardage chart that was on a notebook size bit of paper. It cost a pound and gave me all the information I required.

I bet thats because they run out of the posh £3.50 ones and cant afford to get any more printed. ;-)
I think its horses for courses.
If your looking for just plain info then your £1 is perfect.
If your looking for a nice keepsake then my £10 for 2 a celtic manor wins.
Wanna settle for a half?

I sometimes go on a club website & see if they have the hole descriptions/pictures on there. If they do then I'll make my own course planner

Having played numberous courses I like to keep t my planner. Sadly some courses are woeful, some of the worst I have come across are from Crown Golf courses, they give a yardage but not any real info of what tree/bush it refers to.
I have a rangefinder but still collect the planner.
