Realistically who is everyone looking at for the Claret Jug? Usually a very open field (excuse the pun) but just had a look at the odds for a few outside bets - Thomas Bjorn and Nicolas Colsaerts both at 40/1 and both on pretty good form or Louis Oosthuizen at 33's?!?!

Would backing the big names be too predictable?

Like The Masters, you'll find similar names in the top 10 most years. Basically those who play links well. I haven't looked at the odds yet, but Els is defending both from last year and last time it was at Muirfield. Could be worth at least something. I read the other day about a chap from Craigielaw qualifying from Monty's group. If I could remember his name I'd get a few quid each way on the basis of local knowledge.

I've never picked a winner for any major I'm hoping for an absolute classic though. I love the Open and cannot wait to be glued to my sofa watching hour after hour of proper golf.
