League to Dubai
Is anyone competing in this? If so how are you getting on?

I played this last year - I didn't do myself justice and bombed out early. The only reason I didn't enter this year was because of fear of fixture congestion that I experienced last year. I've entered a couple of other public comps so kept this one of the books this year.
I have just been knocked out of one by someone from Cottesmore. A pleasant chap, we were chatting throughout the round. After a few holes he revealed that he had played the League to Dubai last year and when pushed admitted that he had "done ok" and got to the finals.
By the 13th I pushed him further and he admitted he won the whole event!! You don't often find such humility these days.
Anyway, he did say that throughout the competition he was winning things just be the odd shot or 2, it was all very close. And he won the final with rounds of 28/30/31 stableford - so no bandit accusations here!!
I'd thoroughly recommend this comp - think I will go for it next year; one thing that put me off was that they insist on singles being 3/4 handicap despite CONGU recommendations being full handicap. This favours the lower handicappers but as my handicap is coming down the impact is less so these days.
Never give up, anyone can win it...

Ahhh just found the story. In my group this year I have one of the doubles winners (Chris Wall) and the chap who came 8th in the singles who is by far and away the best 24 handicapper I've ever seen!!

I'm doing ok so far. Won 1 lost 1, so all hinges on my next game really.

Yep. Just a shame CONGU only requires 3 cards a year!
