Do you mean foursomes?
Our mixed foursomes matchplay event is always half the difference of the total handicaps.
ie I am 25 and husband is 3 so that is 28 both opponents play of 10 so that is 20 difference is 8 half that is 4 We get 4 shots

I'm a saddo and have the CONGU book to hand at work!!...
For matchplay foursomes it is "half difference between aggregate handicaps of each side"
For matchplay four-ball betterball it is "back marker to concede strokes to the other 3 players based on 3/4 of the difference between the full handicaps"
Hope that helps...

4 Ball Better Ball. All Players play off 3/4 of their own full handicap. And the lowest score is entered on the card.

John T, the question was for Matchplay which makes your answer incorrect.
