Rory is Irish, from Northern Ireland. So he can chose to play for either The Republic of Ireland or Team GB. He is now thinking of not playing for either, problem is some people will take what ever he does as the wrong road.

Very interesting post Ray. Q. If Rory chooses GB&NI as his team, Why would he get to choose who he goes along with? Is this not the choice of the select commitee? My thoughts would be The 2 highest ranking players will be chosen. Or am I missing some info. Dave CAC handed Geordie.

Hi All,
Great post and answers!
Can I draw your attention to an article I wrote for Golfshake in the Summer. Here is what is being suggested by the players:
'Whether you think it is good or bad, we won't have to wait too long to find out. The course in Rio is on the verge of construction and many players are already turning their attention to Rio and the rare prospect of competing for their country. Much is still to be decided, including the format of the competition with the players backing 72 hole strokeplay and a 60 player field, with the top World's top 15 automatically qualifying. After that, no more than 2 players from each Country could qualify, With the remaining 45 players to be decided by working down the world ranking until the field of 60 is complete. Would a matchplay or team event prove more interesting?'

I do think it should be a team sport, although I you will lose some of the worlds best as a result.
The way it is done in elite amateur golf is to combine scores, so maybe there should be teams of 4 with all scores to count?
