3/4 handicap??

Posted by: user246626 | Fri 16th Nov 2012 16:50 | Last Reply

Am playing the 2nd round of the winter league this weekend at my home club. This weeks format is 4BBB and its 3/4 combined handciap. Could someone just explain how i work out mine and my partners handicap. He plays off 22 and my club handicap is 17 (quite a bit higher than my golf shake handicap). Also just thought i'd check, but is 4BBB when you both tee off and you chose the better one and play your 2nd shot from that position and you both have to have 9 drives each?

thanks in advance

Adam

Are you sure it is 4BBB? In 4BBB you each play your own ball to conclusion on each hole and the better score (handicap strokes taken into account) is the score for your pair.

In 4BBB the lowest handicapper plays off scratch and you gets the shots off him. For example your opponent has a hcap of 10, you get 3/4's of the difference. You're off 17 so 3/4 of 7 is 5.25, rounded down to 5 shots. Your partner off 22 gets 3/4's of 12, 9 shots. Everybody plays the hole individually and the best nett score wins the hole.

Adam,.................................................4BBB, or Fourball Better Ball, and 3/4 COMBINED Hcp just don't go together. The game you describe is more like a Texas Scramble and that is a combined hcp. as is most games when one player doesn't play his own ball all the round. (Foursomes, Greensomes etc).

Ah, sorry David, I assumed it was matchplay, probably because the 2nd round winter league was stated and I've played the first rounds of our winter matchplay singles and pairs games this week.

Just got back, had a really good round after a 2 hour delay due to frost. But still managed to card a 79. It was 4BBB which was, we all played each hole then wrote down the better score and it was 3/4 our own handicap not combined like it said on the notice board.
