Ryder Cup - Messages in the Sky
Paddy Power pulled off their most audacious stunt to date on Sunday in the skies above Medinah when they tweeted fans messages at 10'000 feet. The marketing stunt was completed by 5 pilots using a computerised system to write text in smoke.
The stunt continued for 2 hours and in total 40 tweets were spelled out and were visible for up to 20 miles as well as by a huge worldwide TV audience.

Very clever marketing campaign there. I remember at Celtic Manor - Paddy Power put up a huge logo in a farmers field about a mile away which they knew would be caught in the camera shots. They got in trouble for 'ambush marketing' and were made to take it down.
This is much cleverer. They never once mentioned their brand and didn't even admit to it until after the competition ended. All they said during the comp was tweet your messages of support and we will make sure the Europe team see them.
They get brand awareness with lots of lovely warm feelings of support - genius.
