Golf trolley help !!!

Hoping someone out there can offer me a bit of advice.
I bought a Golf Motion electric golf trolley in November 2010 (possibly a mistake ???) and to date have had no problems with it. I intended using it today but found I have a problem with it. Essentially when I switch it on it does not move forward, However I can hear the power from the battery attempting to turn the wheels. I lift the wheels off the floor they will start spinning at a really decent speed. If I then put the trolley back on the ground it will only move very slowly forward evem at full power. Can anyone shed any light on what the problem might be ?? Could it be a lack of power from the battery or a problem with the wheels?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

take the wheels off and swap them over as they only work in one direction.

Have the spines broke off the axle ?
