When and where ?

Just like we did last time. Only Waynetta and I have a score to settle from that match, but it would have been so embarrasing to have been totally whitewashed.

I think we could do both in one day. Beat Wayne and Tim 10&8, then Tony and Whoever 10&8.

I'll get in touch with last times respective Captains for the North and South.

Ideally it will be around Mar/Apr time next year given the British weather, wasn't that great back in Feb this year, I think the last 2 groups came in in heavy fog and were lucky to see the green on the par 3 18th.

In case anyone didn't know, the North won so the venue will be in the North, which could be anywhere based on your view of where the North starts

Interesting thought.  Ideally there needs to be about 6 weeks notice to give people time to back days off/confirm availability etc

Paul, Belfry is an interesting thought, gets mentioned a lot when everyone discusses events.

Matt, week days are generally easier to get 40+ people on a course but obviously people have to take holidays.  Weekends more people will people but are harder to get tee slots.

I'll see what the consensus is for an October event for the NvS, there had also been talk of a 2 day event for the NvS but 6 weeks will be too short notice to organise.

Maybe day event in October for the rematch and 2 day event next year back in the N O R T H again

Regards,

Darren.

One day up north, get that out of the way. Then next summer down south, for some proper sunshine. How about one of the links courses on the Kent coast?

I'd be up for playing in a 1 day weekday NvS in October so long as it isn't too far north.

Won't be much different to carting him around in a buggy anyway, just means you won't have to drive so far to find his strays.  I for one want the old codger fully fit, don't want any excuses when we whoop them next time.  I'd think of defecting to the North if I were you Danny.

Anyway how does one decide were north stops and south starts? Does the choice of course act as the devide? Does past loyalties never change? Or is it anyone north of Watford Gap is a northerner?

Anyway it'll be snowing up here shortly so bring your orange balls.....

On this subject may I make a sugestion, instead of the likes of the belfry, how about something cheaper like a decent muni,or similar.

Yes I know, tight northerner, but theres no way I will be paying 45 quid to beat a ball around course....

Just a thought for the event Darren.  Forest of Arden (10 minutes from NEC, Birmingham airport, M42 and M6) does an annual offer in the summer of £69 per person for 18 holes on the Arden (Championship) course and as many as you like on the Aylesford course.  Bacon buttie and coffee on arrival, voucher towards lunch and 20 free range balls included.  Usually runs from mid-July to end August.  Apparently they also do the same in the winter for £49 per person.  May get a further discount if it is a block booking.

Really nice courses (watch for roaming deer and pheasant as a natural hazard!) and a good challenge.  Could make it a 36 hole challenge to sort the men from the boys.

Wayne and I only let you win our game because we thought your heart might give out facing the utter dejection of a whitewash.

Here's a link to the Forest of Arden.  If you want to treat the little lady (assuming she's a non-golfer) bring her along and give her a spa day while you play.  She won't mind so much if you make a fool of yourself in the bar afterwards (after making a fool of yourself on the course).

Just out of interest, do I play for the North or South?  I live in the Midlands, but I am a Yorkshire boy by birth.

I don't mind when or where it's played.  I only suggested Forest of Arden as it is a good quality course that had a decent offer on and was pretty central (save the home territory arguments from brewing up).  I describe myself as a 'golf slut'; I'll play anywhere, anytime, with anyone.  Bit of a Martini golfer.  Be my first competition of any sort anyway as I am a Sunday morning golfer who tries not to take it too seriously but can't help himself.

As a matter of pride, I feel I have to play for the North.  Yorkshire born and bred and proud of it.  It would go against the grain for me to play for the South and my parents would disown me.  As regards being on the losing side, well we'll see.  I am used to losing though so I promise not to cry if you do beat us.

I'll have you boys know that the flat cap keeps the sun well and truly out of my eyes and the whippet is fantastic at finding my sliced shots that have disappearred into the trees. And I'll go t' top of our street before I'll join up with a bunch of southern jessies.

And any southerner who makes comments about silly accents is a very brave shandy drinker indeed.

Good Evening Gentlemen. Have been away for a while but pop back occasionally to see whats happening and saw the link to the next NvS. Good to see that the old banter hasnt subsided any. Count myself & Si in whatever the venue time etc we would love to have another crack at Darren & Rich and this time bring back the bacon for the South. Im sure Si wants to defend his best dressed title at the very least

Hi guys, hope to announce something very soon.

In terms of the North vs South this is potentially being planned for Apr/May next year and possibly the Belfry but hopefully by early November I'll have confirmed details.

Also I've just posted provisionally information on a end of year golfshake.com competition in Derbyshire, feel free to register now.

Finally, I'm also working on one or two other events for next year which I also hope to confirm the details for in early November.

Regards, Darren.
