It will most probably be because of the CSS calculated on the day

Liam,

A 'measured course' is given a SSS and then when all scores are in, a CSS is worked out for each competition. Your Hcp then has a 'Buffer Zone' and adjustments are then done. If you got 0.1 back your score must have calculated more than +3 of the CSS.

Liam,

Your net score - 74, Course SSS - 70, difference = +4 shots.  Your buffer is +3 shots so you were 1 shot outside your buffer against the SSS, hence the 0.1 rise

Assuming your course is par 72, "playing to handicap" with SSS of 70 is 38 points. Unless the CSS varied from SSS, you were outside your buffer zone (34 points +3 = 37) and therefore up 0.1.
