played with someone on sunday who was a member at 4 different clubs. i thought i was mad joining three... does anyone know of a limit?

Are you sure he wasn't telling porkies? Sounds a bit excessive and expensive.

It could be that he was a member at one golf club, but belonged to a couple of golf societies.
I cannot see any reason why you would want to be a member at two, or more golf clubs?
