'A' wedge?

Posted by: user430457 | Wed 11th Apr 2012 10:34 | Last Reply

Probably another daft question from me but what is an AW? I've come across PW, SW, as well as gap, utility & lob but not heard of this before.

Auxilliary? Ancilliary? what loft would this have?

Ta.

Yep, Ping use U, titleist use W, Taylormade use A. All are 50 degrees or thereabouts.

I have one in my set of Callaways and I believe it stands for 'Approach'.  Mine is 50 degree and sits nicely between the pitching and sand wedges.

Hi

AW is just another variation of the gap wedge. A wedge to go inbetween what you hit with say sand & pitching wedges.

Yes it's a gap wedge usually 50* 52* I've always known it as an Approach wedge, and currently using one.
