Capping hcp's at 24 suggestion

Posted by: user24476 | Wed 15th Aug 2007 18:53 | Last Reply

Darren,

Any chance we can get capped handicaps put onto the site, ie: in our society we feel once you have reached a hcp of 24 (down from higher hcp) you can no longer go back up to the dizzy heights of 28 as we believe you are no longer classed a novice if you could add a feature somewhere against the members name to cap at say 24 this would help a great deal. this doesn't mean they will always play with hcp of 24 because we still want the hcp to go down if they show further improvement just means they can never go back above 24.

I look forward to your thoughts on this.

regards,

Paul C

Hi Paul.

This is kind of on the cards but will be some time off.  The society section will be updated to allow independent society handicaps away from your golfshake.com golf handicap.  This is mainly because most societies impose some sort of society ruling on the way handicaps are adjusted so it makes sense for the site to offer society golf handicap which can be different from your user golf handicap.

For example I play in a society and you automatically receive a 2 shot drop if you win an event and anyone scoring more than 38 points is also dropped a shot for each point over.  Obviously rules also apply for going back up.

Also, if you dropped to a 24 handicap based on the official golf handicap system used on this site it would take you 40 rounds to get back to 28 because you can only go up by 0.1 per round.

Regards,

Darren.
