I'm playing the brab next Friday, the Derby Saturday and the PGA on the Sunday. So please ensure you replace your divots and repair all your pitch marks so it's in pristine condition come Friday (I would have put a smiley on the end of that comment but I havn't got a clue how to, obviously said that tongue in cheek i'm sure you allways take care of the course.)

Sorry John. My invite hasnt arrived yet......Did it get off ok??

What do you reckon Dave, shall we go for it??
Reply : Wed 7th Mar 2012 19:21
You have to have at least a pop at it John. You are long enough if you flight it properly. I too hit this green in 1979 in the Belfry Autumn Cup, which my partner and I won with 42 points.
I do see that they now have a few bunkers down the fairway which were not a part of the original design.

42 points JP you bandit
I'll give it a go for sure.

It was better ball, John, we even blobbed the last, both driving into the water.

When I played it last, on a cold day, I laid up hitting a perfect 6 iron just short of the bunker on the right.
Then duffed it in the water anyway!! next time I'll definitely go for it!

That is the sensible way to play it, Darren. An easy par then.

Lat time I played it I took an easy 3 wood down the middle then left my wedge short into the water. Might as well have gone for it http://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor362/plugins/smiley/images/sad_smile.gif" title="sad" width="20" />. They were doing some remodelling around the green with some new bunkering to punish those trying to take the 'safe' approach and force you to go for the green. Don't go too far right or the trees will block your approach, but from the right you have more green to go at

Perfect shape for a right hander....

John, yes it is the sensible approach. I watched my 3 playing partners either go in the water or just have an awful second shot from the trees on the right.

In my mind I will draw a gentle driver to the flag. We'll see what actually happens next week.

I could probably get there from the ladies tee....

On in two then Tim.......

John/Dave, hopefully you'll do this!

Dig the fog clear in time ? and more importantly did you go for the green on the 10th ?
Reply : Thu 15th Mar 2012 17:25
Darren,
the fog cleared & we were in t shirts. We did go for the green on the 10th, I'll upload the resulting shots later tonight. It was a lot more intimidating than it looks!
had a very good experience on the top society package, with breakfast, goody bag, food & drinks at the halfway house & then tea & sandwiches after. I would fully recommend it to any societies.
