are Taylormade deliberately devaluing their clubs?
the reason i ask is that they seem to bringing out new clubs specifically woods on what seems like a gap of only a couple of months between, this must affect the 2nd hand value of your 3 month old £250 club, i understand that if your not selling your club then it's value is of no concern but at the rate their bringing out new ones there must be plenty of 2nd hand bargains to be had

there are always players who want the latest club whilst there standing on the tee but seriously, who much could they advance clubs in a mater of a couple of months?

Its called planned obsolecence. Tie it in to marketing, where they tell you the next new thing will be straighter longer etc.. If you think about it the companies have been telling us this for years, yet the average handicaps haven't fallen. It also makes budgeting easier for them where they don't suffer feast and famine, followed by feast every few years.

the pro at my club said that taylormade are so advanced that in the space of a year they could release everything up to the R21. They just choose not to to make the money

They are chosing to make money not lose money by bringing gear out constantly, us sensible types will go and buy the latest second hand gear at knock down prices, but how many of those guys selling the cheap knock down second hand peice of kit are out buying the shiney new one as your happily bidding away on the internet auction site.
They do it because they make a fortune on people constantly updating there kit they don't care about the second hand market becasue someone paying £100 for last years 2nd hand model was never going to pay £300 for this years anyway so nothing lost. But that £100 made by the guy selling it goes straight back into there pockets.
And to be fair us sensible types buying the 2nd hand model aint all that sensible because we'll be buying this years model 2nd next year off the same bloke, who'll be out buying next years new driver. It's a great big circle that starts and ends in Taylormades back pocket
