Beginner

I’m 13 and it was my first time playing golf, I thought it would be nerve wracking, but it was very open, no pressure, everyone was friendly, just a brilliant corse for a beginner or some sort game practice, and for £5 and under 16 £1, you can’t complain

Great course to play if you are just starting out, don't expect much of the greens. Will get you using most of your irons.

Very good course just to go knock some balls about and at £5 no complaints. Only suggestions
It’s been there a while now and although it’s well maintained it could do with some new features. As I’m sure is regulars would appreciate it.

Good course if your starting out - small greens that aren't fantastic but some good distance changes on the holes to get all of your irons a work out.

Great course to learn, don\'t expect Augusta green\'s but the owner moves the pins regularly enough to stop wear. Some nice Par 3\'s with a Par 4 thrown in. Really fun and relaxed course

I'm a complete novice, had just 4 hours tuition and a few sessions on a driving range. The problem for a new golfer is obtaining course practice as there is a fear of looking foolish amongst seasoned golfers on a "big" course.

Maxey is a very flat open 9-hole course with few bunkers or hazards. There are 8 par 3s and 1 par 4 (400 yds). It's very quiet so you can take your time and practice without any pressure. The fairways are open and forgiving. The greens a re not proper course standard but still playable.

I met a returning golfer there and have had 2 enjoyable rounds. Today I scored just 34, which is 6 over the par 28, which boosted my confidence - and that's what I need at this point. A couple more rounds and I'll try a full 18 hole course locally. Note, there are no facilities, just a small cap park, a security camera and an honesty box asking for a £5 fee for unlimited play-time. No toilets. Recommend this for beginners or someone who just wants to get out and thrash a few balls.
