What the club says: Silves is a serene spot at the foot of the Monchique mountain, but it is anything other than 'a walk in the park' - a drive at the opening hole has to flirt with water hazards on both flanks.
This course is for players - low handicaps will find it a serious challenge to come in under par. But high handicaps (with concentration) will be able to enjoy their round.
Most holes offer spectacular mountain views overlooking palm trees and olive groves, the surrounding cork and citrus farms generate a true feeling of authentic Portuguese golf.

Simply beautiful venue
A simply beautiful and stunning venue for a game of golf. Loved every single aspect of this course. Revamped slightly since last played 7 years ago and enjoyed the very minor changes. Nice clubhouse and shop, staff were very friendly and helpful. Another great visit to our Algarve Tour.Reviewer Rating

It is by far the worse course of the Pestana group.
There is a tremendous among of work to do on and around the course .
It has a lovely new club house which will complement the course once all the work on the course has finished.

Nice Course
Course a nice set up in good condition. Had massive rainfall before we tee'd off with standing water on the greens but this was gone with minutes so course drains brilliantly.Greens had a few greens with weeds growing but seems to be a problem in that area as were similar to Gramacho. A good course to play for golfers any level.

Silves is another of the Pestana courses in great condition, fariways, greens, tees and bunkers all very well maintained. The course was a little more challenging of those we played (Gramacho and Silves) with some higher scores in the group (hcps 14 - 26) but a very enjoyable course to play being more isolated from villas than the other courses.

Played the course on 19th November. In the 2 weeks since I last played Silves , the greens have developed what looks like fusarium and are diseased. They putted very poorly which is such a shame as it is a nice course and the stafff are lovely.Reviewer Rating

Countryside location at its best
The complex is ever developing as apartments and villas are being constructed but every effort is made for this not to interfere with the golf. Some re-ordering of holes has been necessary but this is of marginal impact. Silves remains a fine course. Challenging and beautiful in many areas.Reviewer Rating

Very impressed
We had not played this course in the Pestana family, and we were pleasantly surprised. The course was in good condition, the greens also. The scenery very nice and it wasn't an easy course, plenty to challenge all levels.Reviewer Rating

A gem that I should have played before!
I have been lucky enough to play on some of the nicest courses on the Algarve over the last 20 years but have never played at Silves - silly me!I have to say the this has gone to position 2 on my West Algarve list (Penina no.1 with Morgado now at no.3).
In great condition (helped no doubt to continued maintnance during C-19 lockdown) and a very fair, open and forgiving course for 21 handicappers like me.
One hole is just under 600 yards (520 ladies) which is an absolute monster!
Clubhouse / 19th appears to be very new.
Loved it and great value too!

Spectacular Course - A Must
Out of the 6 courses available in the Pestana Portfolio, this is my favourite. We have been to Portugal three times now and this is still my favourite. Elevated tees, lakes, palm trees, fountains, cactus plants ... what more could you want ? take your camera as i took more photo's here than golf shots !Reviewer Rating

Long Course
Looking at the yardage, I suppose the course from the Red's is not that long as stated in my title, it just felt that long. A lot of the holes were wide open fairways where distance was required from the tee along with a big fairway wood. I didn't like it much it became more of a slog than an enjoyable game of golf.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 17.1)

Long Straight Holes
Silves is a course for big hitters. Although I put together a pretty decent round I found the going a little boring. One of the holes was basically a big drive and 2 big three woods to get anywhere near the green. Not a course you would have to pick your way round. The greens were very good though.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 85 Handicap: 16.9)

Course was in good condition, with the greens playing quick and true. Pace of play was much better than recent rounds at Alamos & Morgado, although still 4.5 hours. Clubhouse still under whelming but hopefully once the new building work has been completed, it will be revamped.

Beautiful gem of a course
