Great beginner course, greens could do with some attention though. Friendly staff, always happy to help.

First Round

Decent course to learn on, well thought out. Could do with more watering in the hotter weather although still enjoyable.

Good club, very poor course

Very friendly membership who will always make you welcome. The clubhouse is welcoming with nice staff and good food at reasonable prices. There is a decent range, practice green, practice bunker and even a chipping area with another green, so that's all quite good. However the course is a joke, easily the worst I've ever played on. There really isn't anything good to say about it. The tees are a mess, the fairways have more weeds than grass with copious amounts of unattended crow damage and the greens are patchy all over, the bunkers have a mix of what appears to be building sand, soil and aggregate in them. Obviously the staff haven't the faintest idea about how the condition of the course or the setup of the tees etc. affect the game and consequently scoring. How can they organise competitions under these conditions? The results would be completely meaningless. I feel sorry for the members who pay good money only to be taken for a ride like this. There's a lot better not too far away.

Play it in winter.

Very dry and hard during the summer months makes being aggressive very difficult, so play it in winter when the fairways and greens are a little softer. The course is probably worth 5 out of 10 because of the land it's built on but there's enough interest to make you think before playing your shots. It's short but not simple. It's kept in as good a condition as can be, I've played a lot worse for a lot more money.
The club has a decent range, practice putting green, practice bunker and a chipping area and green, so pretty good really. The food and drink is very good and reasonably priced, the staff are all very welcoming. As for the members, they're the friendliest I've ever encountered. Don't be shy of going alone, there will always be someone who will take you round with them if you want.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Fairways very dry in summer as the soil base is very sandy although the newer holes (back 9) were much better. Sand in bunkers is a very heavy sand which after a heavy dew or rain is very difficult to be aggressive from.

is a good course, has some changeling holes. the whole course could use some TLC and especially the T-box could do with smarting up.
