What the club says: The Genevieve course at Suffolk Golf & Country Club is a PGA accredited championship course, and is a fine example of a parkland layout. The River Lark prominently meanders through the course, with it’s many tributaries and ponds featuring heavily in the course layout. The 18 hole, par 72 course will challenge all golfers, whether experienced or beginner, you will find plenty here to test every aspect of your game.

Bank holiday round getting practice in for the 100 hole golf challenge in June, a lot of rain and course very wet

Water and long grass

Tee boxes very poor, fairways appear to be cut only in a narrow band. Land ball in first cut and you need to be on top if it to see it. Water on nearly every hole and mostly so weed choked you can never recover your ball. If you are a mid to high handicap save your money and play elsewhere.

Challenging course

Improving course undergoing some major changes due to building work. It would benefit greatly for better signage between holes. Every hole has a water / ditch hazard, you also have to cross or drive over a couple of green / fairways

Not bad, some enjoyable holes

The Club itself was recently re-done and is fantastic. We played the course on a wet and cold December day, so some poor conditions were to be expected. Some of the greens were more boggy than others so drainage was an issue. Half the holes make good use of the river lark as a hazard, with some really nice Par 3s and 4s. However this is interspersed with just very long and straight Par 5s. Nice course and good value for money, if uninspiring

Lovely Course in Poor condition

I have played the course a few times and found the condition of the greens and course in general to be the worst i have seen it. The greens were so dry and and earth was cracking open. The Rough & fairways had been cut and all the cut grass left on the course to hide
your ball!
I wont play again unless the course improves dramatically!

Lovely course

Plenty of water hazards on every hole. Very challenging course. We'll kept course. A few areas including tees reseeded. There are no bunkers on the course, but there are more than enough water hazards to compensate for this.

The grass just off the fairway is so thick that spending time looking for balls was irritating. Fairways good greens ok and tee boxes poor.

I have not played here in over 20 years, I now know the reason why, the course to say the least is in very poor condition and has not improved. The dry weather can of course be given as a factor, but sadly there were far to many other things wrong to blame it all on the dry weather. The greens were the worst I've ever played on, old holes were not replaced properly, a greenkeeper worth his salt would not present greens in this condition. A lot of money has/is being spent on the hotel facilities to the detriment of the golf course. The pace of play was excellent, there was no one else on the course, I know it was hot but on a friday afternoon you would expect other golfers to be out.

Course under renovation, still worth a visit

The whole complex is under renovation, the golf course has had a lot of work done on it and is starting to see the bensfit.

Better than last time I played but generally poor. Greens were a mix of average and bad, fairways mostly good but bunkers had been filled in and the surface grass was bare and scrub. Should have been marked GUR but wasn't.
New clubhouse very nice but uninterested staff and no food - not even a bag of crisps, and this was at 330pm.

Poor

Sorry to say but this course was terrible, the course is really weathered, tees are shocking, fairways the same, the greens are ok. Didn't see one bunker, greens weren't great, sorry but I wouldn't play here again. Now I had breakfast and the food was great, however we was back in the bar for a lunch at 14.05 and they closed for food, poor show on a Friday and being a golf hotel and spa. Shame as I was really looking forward to going to.

Lovely course, Shame about the members.

The course was in a great condition (no bunkers at all however, not that I am complaining) and very reasonable price... However, the mens captain (I believe it was the mens captain, someone apologized for his behavior and mentioned he was the captain) was about as obnoxious as they come, he was rude to me and my playing partner, swearing in front of us and to us and also made a joke about our card bouncing whilst we were paying... I like banter as much as the next guy but this was just rude, put a sour note on our day but apart from him it was a great experience.

This will be a very very nice course. But not yet. They are spending a lot of money. The greens weren't good and the pro shop is being built. I'll go back in a year and I'm sure it will be great.

Club recently changed owenership, and can see real investment. In a couple of years, could be a very very good place to play golf!
