Super greens

A lovely course, played fairly short, especially with recent dry weather. We were able to drive a couple of the short par 4?s, quite happy with that????
The greens were very fast but probably the best greens we have played on in a long time.
Very enjoyable

£16 for a round (18 holes) a reasonable price for a good wee course. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and had good knowledge of best time to slip onto the 1st to avoid getting caught up with those going onto the 10th. Some practice nets and a large chipping area was a welcome sight. Both were in good nick. The course plays quite short. Apart from a couple of holes, longer hitters need not use a driver. Lots of short par 4's will benefit higher handicappers or those looking to take on the green from the tee. On the whole though, not much scope for any long irons to the green. The course layout is pleasant however no real stand out holes for me and none that really required thinking about course management. The tees and farways were in good shape for April and it would appear that the course drains well. However, what spoiled the day for me was the state of the greens. It must just be the time of the year and is necessary evil for good summer greens later in the year but they had recently been spiked, dressed rolled and cut very, very short. Some greens had very little grass on them meaning an exceptionally firm bounce and pace. In effect, they played more like links greens which, to be fair to them, doesn't suit my game (I'm not that good!). Apart from the usual effect of spiked greens, they generally ran true and are well contoured meaning an excellent putting challange. I would play this course again but might wait till June / July to allow the greens to development after their recently treatment. A recommended stop if playing round West Lothian.

This is a fantastic little course and the weather was very kind last Friday morning, met up with local member Ian Laidlaw and we had a most enjoyable 18 holes. Especially when he discovered how good an offset driver can be. I have been to the course on a few occasions now and will have no hesitation in going back.

A tidy little 9 holer hidden behind Uphall in West Lothian Oatridge is a test for players of all levels.

The course is in excellent condition with the greens playing well as the golf season prepares to enter full swing.

2 key holes are the 3rd and 4th respectively. 2 short par 4s both are begging to be hit in one but flying off line or not measuring the wind correctly can land you in trouble.

The 7th is the most testing hole. A long Dogleg par 4 going uphill will test the longest hitters. If you don't get to the top of the hill off the tee you will likely not be hitting the narrow green in 2.

A large, undulating practice green gives no excuses for not doing the job on the course, and the short game practice area with bunkers also prepares you for the course. The Short game area is large enough to let you practive full wedge approaches, a useful thing to have if you don't get it right on the 3rd and 4th.

A small clubhouse will keep you dry and let you stock up on drinks and chocolate before your round but could be a little larger.

All in all a pleasant club and one I won't hesitate to visit again.
