What the club says: Pumpherston was founded in 1895, originally a nine hole layout, the course was extended to 18 holes in 2002 with the project receiving worldwide acclaim which has resulted in a truly 'green' golf course. The new course layout designed by Graeme Webster is recognised as one the best courses in West Lothian. It contains numerous water features throughout the 6000 yard par 70 course and the greens are constructed to USPGA standard.

Lovely friendly course

Well kept
Lovely course in great condition, some casual water on fairways and in the bunkers, but considering the rain this last week, still in great condition. Greens were still running fast.Reviewer Rating

Nice Course
Although the fairways were brown with no rainfall (where isn't), they played to my game, which is hit it low of the tee and get a good run from the ball, and though I was useless on the greens( thought they were slow) my son in law putted really good on them, but I really enjoyed playing Pumpherson.Reviewer Rating

Quirky & good fun to play .....
Played here yesterday for the 1st time & thoroughly enjoyed the course.There are some quirky holes to play during your round with water coming into play on many of them & some great dog-legs to negotiate.
This is a nice flat course where Fairways are undulating & the greens fast & true. A fun, if heavily bunkered, course that offers all level of golfer the chance to score well this place is well worth visiting.

Great course and always in excellent condition. Greenkeepers often go unrewarding but here they’re doing an amazing job keeping the course to a great standard.
Don’t let the first hook you into thinking it’s an easy course. There are some challenging holes and it’s great to play. Watch out for the 2nd and 16th they bite !!!

Good course
heard horror stories from previous visits, course was fine greens bobbly and inconsistent speed, hard to get ball to stay on. Could do with a diagram at the tee for each hole or even on the scorecard. Enjoyed it none the less.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 104 Handicap: 25.7)

Played 12/3. Good layout of holes on the front 9, decent greens for the time of year however the rest of the course was a a but of a mud pit, not sure what is going on with the drainage system but it wasn't really working! Enjoyed the round nevertheless so would go back maybe in slightly better weather to see if it was just the bad time of year.

This is a really good course, probably the best in the area. At 6000 yards off the white tees, it's not overly long - but it's difficult (lots of water hazards, lots of trees). The 2nd is a beast of a hole, and the closing stretch is great. A real test

Played Pumpherston today , 15th july . Smashing day out , as the staff and club members were only too happy to give us some pointers. We got the weather , so that helped. The course itself is like a game of two halves. The front nine is relatively new , with \'young trees\'. The back nine is more mature , with fully grown trees. The 16th , signature hole is great fun . If you play it right . Its a tight green surrounded by water , but stay out the drink , youll do ok.All in all an excellent day , course in good condition , and will definitely go there again.

Played for the first time, an enjoyable if short course. Its apparent that 9 holes of this course were added to an initial 9. The front 9 are fairly flat and short though this is compensated by quite a few well placed bunkers that will catch any over ambitious drives. I found this section to be a bit parched but that did not affect the golf in any way. Crucially the greens were fantastic throughout the course. The back 9 made this course and has far more character than the front 9 with the possible exceptions of 2 & 3. The most stunning hole was 13, a short par 3 over a pond with bunkers in between. The 16th was also good fun with the green set in a large pond. Overall an enjoyable experience and the back 9 for me dragged this course closer to 4 than 3 star course.
