What the club says: The Abajo and Arriba courses are situated just to the north west of the capital and are both excellently maintained. Puera de Hierro is an exclusive private members club, where visitors can only play if they are accompanied by a member. The Madrid Open was hosted here from 1972-1993, showing why this is such a prestigious course. Like the Abajo course, the Arriba starts with one for the four par 3's on the course. Each on of the short holes is at least 175 yards from the black tees, so a quartet of threes on the scorecard with be hard earned.

Excellent, relatively open but with some real ''thinking'' holes. Greens in excellent condition.
